I grew up in the '40s and I heard all these great speeches, like Winston Churchill. His most famous, or infamous commencement exercise speech was one that consisted of seven words. He stood before this graduating class and said: "Never, never, never, never give up."

What is B Whalin's Guitar Man? It's as the name implies, my selection of noteworthy guitarists, especially those who employs fingerstyle technique. Whether or not the musical style is Classical, Jazz or down-home Travis pickin' matters not. Generally the feature artists will be acoustic guitar players. I am a self taught guitarist and at one time a bassist for a band known as The Ram Rods, performing a mix of 1960's Country songs and late 1950's- early 1960's Rock-N-Roll. The band was a weekly booked house band at a nightclub in the state of Florida in the early 1970's. Although my life-long passion has been the guitar, my level of proficiency is only mediocre, but that has never detracted from the pleasure I obtain from the instrument.
